    Wood & paper

Products made of wood and paper are an indispensable part of our daily lives. An annual per capita consumption of some 200 kg of paper and 1,3 cubic metres of timber shows clearly how important these resources are for us.

    Sectors:

    • Pulp and paper
    • Veneers, plywood, fibreboard and chipboard
    • Paper, card
    • Printed products

Digitalisation over the past years and decades has had a strong influence on the wood and paper industry: where customers used to receive a printed mail order catalogue they now click through the online shop and order via internet. In the logistics centre the goods are then packed in cardboard boxes and shipped. These changes have caused demand for cardboard to rise, while the use of printed paper is declining.

People's love of a crackling log fire at home has also had an impact on the industry: demand for firewood doubled in space of ten years and caused prices for this raw material to go up.

Stendal pulp and paper plant, Arneburg, KAEFER Industrie GmbH

Stendal pulp and paper plant, Arneburg – Insulation of 48,500 sq m of vessels up to surface area of 2,900 sq m each and heights of up to 54m; 16,000 sq m of piping; plus 3,000 sq m of filters on the roof of the boilerhouse and a complete boiler for a 90 MW plant.

Under difficult conditions, an economically optimised insulation can recoup at least some of the operating costs-, and it helps to cut CO2 emissions at the same time.

Thermal processes play a vital role in the production of pulp, timber and paper products. Many media require a huge amount of energy to heat them before they can be further processed. At this juncture KAEFER makes a decisive contribution to the cost-effective operation of a production plant:

Our experts track down the energy losses and calculate the economically optimal thickness of the insulation. And of course at your request we can also deliver and fit the insulation to pipelines, tanks, fittings and filters.

Optimising energy costs isn't all we can do for you, however. We find solutions for insulating components like large rotary dryers and help you to reduce the noise footprint of your production facilities. Talk to us – we will be happy to advise you.
